Getting Started
This page is the starting point for anyone planning to use TRacer for an event. Use it to get the app, practice with the training data, and learn what to check before logging real race data.
✅ What You Need
- A phone, tablet, or computer
- A radio
- The TRacer app, or access to TRacer in your browser
- Your assigned station number for the event
- The event data file from the person preparing TRacer for the event, if one is provided
Try it out in the browser, or install TRacer on your device.
Offline use
TRacer is designed for offline, peer-to-peer event operation. You can create an event manually without internet access, and you can import an event data file while offline if the file is already on your device.
🎥 Prefer to watch a video?
Watch the training video if you prefer to learn by seeing the app in use. The video covers using the TRacer app, but it does not cover Race Control workflows or creating event data files.
⬇ Download Training Data
The training data file goes with the video and lets you try TRacer with example event data.
ℹ Before You Log Real Race Data
TRacer logs time entries and DNFs (Did Not Finish) under the station number you have selected.
That station number tells race control where each racer was last seen or dropped out.
📍 Make sure you have selected the correct station number for the location you are working at before logging any:
- Time In or Time Out
- DNF reports
WARNING
If a DNF is logged while the wrong station is selected, it will be recorded and sent as if the racer dropped at that station — which will, at race control, override the actual DNF location.
🙏 Support the Project
Using the TRacer is free to use because we believe volunteers shouldn’t have to pay to help keep races running smoothly and participants safe.
The TRacer app works peer-to-peer without connecting to trackmyracer.live. If your event wants to use trackmyracer.live to publish event data publicly, please consider making a donation to support the project.
If you find TRacer helpful, please consider making a donation to support ongoing development. Every bit helps—thank you for supporting the volunteer community!
